Tasmania’s multi-award winning tour to Wineglass Bay

Explore Freycinet National Park on foot with a local Tasmanian guide. Interact with the wildlife, smell the native plants and rub the powder soft white sand between your fingers and toes. This is the tour for those that want to truly feel the region and complete several of Tasmania’s Greatest Short Walks.

Our Wineglass Bay tour departs from Hobart, heading east then following the Great Eastern Drive north. We’ll travel through the seaside towns of Orford, Triabunna and Swansea as we make our way along the East Coast of Tasmania towards the Freycinet National Park.  We’ll stop briefly along the way to take in some of the local highlights such as Raspins Beach and The Bark Mill (Swansea).

Lunch will be had on the beach at Coles Bay or at the Freycinet Marine Farm, the choice is yours! We recommend enjoying the huge selection of amazing fresh seafood available at the Freycinet Marine Farm. If seafood isn’t your thing there is plenty to choose from at the Freycinet Bakery Cafe, Take Away Shop, Supermarket or the Iluka Tavern. After lunch, we go for our hike to see Wineglass Bay.
The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania.  It usually takes about 45mins to get to the Wineglass Bay Lookout. The 1.4 km walk is uphill on a rocky but well constructed path with stone steps. As a group, we walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where we help each other out to ensure we get the best photographs of this iconic view of Tasmania’s jewel.  We enjoy the excitement and emotions of the moment, learn the secrets of the beaches dark history and take in the rewarding and world famous view.
From the Wineglass Bay Lookout you will be given the option to return to the start of the walk with your guide, or to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass Bay Beach (2hr return). There you can enjoy a well deserved break with the famous white Wineglass Bay Beach sand between your toes, take a relaxing stroll along the beach, enjoy a swim in the stunning clear ocean, explore the rocky shoreline, the choice is yours!
If you choose to travel back with your guide, you will explore more of the Freycinet National Park through a series of short scenic walks.  You’ll visit Honeymoon Bay or Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lookout.

After almost 5 hours of fun and exploration in the Freycinet National Park we all reunite and jump aboard the bus again to make our way back to Hobart. The drive home is usually spent sharing our experiences and tales with each other and celebrating our amazing day out.  We’ll get you back at your accommodation around 6:30-7:00pm.

  • 5 star ratingThis tour is well planned and worth doing if you like nature and beaches, Geno was extremely helpful to get all sorted. I was planning to shift the dates, and he was very responsive. Its a small bus, there are well planned stops on the way including lunch. There are two options: 1.easy to the lookout, everyone can do this even small kids. 2. Walk to the beach, thats for fully mobile people who are able to do a steep hike up stairs especially if its warm. Geno had water, suncream, mosquito spray in the car. He told us about the animals and history of the island and the place. We had a good lunch in the Freycinet farm, you can go for cold option or warm one. Geno showed us also one secluded stop, which was stunning. The place itself is beautiful and worth seeing especially if weather is good. Definitely recommend his tour.

I would highly recommend the tour company and this tour to wineglass bay. Phil was a great tour guide, he kept it light hearted, always a smile on his face. He changed the tour to accommodate the poor weather and ultimately we had a great time despite the morning rain. It was also really good to have different options for food and walk lengths to suit everyone's needs.
Hope future tour goers have a great time!

  • A great tour! Beautiful sights and a very informative guide. I was especially lucky to have Geno as my guide. It is a long day but with lots of stops for sights and refreshments it is a great day.
