Tasmania’s multi-award winning tour to Wineglass Bay

Explore Freycinet National Park on foot with a local Tasmanian guide. Interact with the wildlife, smell the native plants and rub the powder soft white sand between your fingers and toes. This is the tour for those that want to truly feel the region and complete several of Tasmania’s Greatest Short Walks.

Our Wineglass Bay tour departs from Hobart, heading east then following the Great Eastern Drive north. We’ll travel through the seaside towns of Orford, Triabunna and Swansea as we make our way along the East Coast of Tasmania towards the Freycinet National Park.  We’ll stop briefly along the way to take in some of the local highlights such as Raspins Beach and The Bark Mill (Swansea).

Lunch will be had at Coles Bay, where you can enjoy an incredible selection of the freshest Tasmanian seafood from the Freycinet Marine Farm,or choose from the wide selection of seafood, dumplings and poke bowls available at Scale Fish – the Coles Bay Take-away Shop. Granite, the stunning new Bakery/Cafe has plenty to offer too, or you can grab a coldie from the Iluka Tavern. Whatever you treat yourself with, be sure to also grab a drink bottle if you didn’t already bring one with you because after lunch we go for our walk.
The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania.  It usually takes about 45mins to get to the Wineglass Bay Lookout. The 1.4 km walk is uphill on a rocky but well constructed path with stone steps. As a group, we walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where we help each other out to ensure we get the best photographs of this iconic view of Tasmania’s jewel.  We enjoy the excitement and emotions of the moment, learn the secrets of the beaches dark history and take in the rewarding and world famous view.
From the Wineglass Bay Lookout you will be given the option to return to the start of the walk with your guide, or to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass Bay Beach (2hr return). There you can enjoy a well deserved break with the famous white Wineglass Bay Beach sand between your toes, take a relaxing stroll along the beach, enjoy a swim in the stunning clear ocean, explore the rocky shoreline, the choice is yours!
If you choose to travel back with your guide, you will explore more of the Freycinet National Park through a series of short scenic walks.  You’ll visit Honeymoon Bay or Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lookout.

After almost 5 hours of fun and exploration in the Freycinet National Park we all reunite and jump aboard the bus again to make our way back to Hobart. The drive home is usually spent sharing our experiences and tales with each other and celebrating our amazing day out.  We’ll get you back at your accommodation around 6:30-7:00pm.

  • 5 star ratingThis tour was what I was looking for as it had nature hikes, an option to see other sights without hiking too much (I have bad knees), various lunch and snack options, and pick up and drop off very near my accommodation. The best part was having Geno as our guide as he was very knowledgeable (we peppered him with questions) and he made the “learning” very fun due to his witty humour and friendly personality, making us feel at ease right away. Our group for the day came from diverse backgrounds and some of us were solo travellers but we never felt left out. He adapted to our walking speeds and we never felt hurried. He was also always ready to help even before we thought to ask for it.

I have been on several day tours in different parts of Australia and other countries and sometimes, I would feel restricted by fixed meal “options” and the pressure to keep up despite wanting to slow down to enjoy the sights. Therefore, I am very satisfied with this tour and would love to engage your services again when I return to Tasmania in the future.

5 star ratingI had the tour with Phil, who is very knowledgeble and shared with us alot about the history, origin of the tourists attractions. He was very friendly and considerate! i enjoyed the tour very much as it is a smaller, more personalised tour, very suitable if you are travelling solo like me! I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to spend a good day exploring freycinet national park and wineglass bay, very well organised tour!

  • It was just great. We got a lovely view at Wineglass Bay, Honeymoon Bay, Coles Bay and Cape Tourville. I just wanted to stay forever. Our guide Geno told us a lot of facts about Freycinet Nationalpark and the wildlife. I’m really happy I went to Wineglass Bay with Wineglass Bay Day tours! I hardly recommend them.

5 star ratingI had an excellent time on the wineglass bay tour. My tour guide was personable and knew a lot about Tasmania. I felt like I was in good hands. I enjoyed being to pick my own adventure! I chose the long walk down to the wineglass bay beach, and it was definitely worth even though it rained!
