Tasmania’s multi-award winning tour to Wineglass Bay

Explore Freycinet National Park on foot with a local Tasmanian guide. Interact with the wildlife, smell the native plants and rub the powder soft white sand between your fingers and toes. This is the tour for those that want to truly feel the region and complete several of Tasmania’s Greatest Short Walks.

Our Wineglass Bay tour departs from Hobart, heading east then following the Great Eastern Drive north. We’ll travel through the seaside towns of Orford, Triabunna and Swansea as we make our way along the East Coast of Tasmania towards the Freycinet National Park.  We’ll stop briefly along the way to take in some of the local highlights such as Raspins Beach and The Bark Mill (Swansea).

Lunch will be had at Coles Bay, where you can enjoy an incredible selection of the freshest Tasmanian seafood from the Freycinet Marine Farm,or choose from the wide selection of seafood, dumplings and poke bowls available at Scale Fish – the Coles Bay Take-away Shop. Granite, the stunning new Bakery/Cafe has plenty to offer too, or you can grab a coldie from the Iluka Tavern. Whatever you treat yourself with, be sure to also grab a drink bottle if you didn’t already bring one with you because after lunch we go for our walk.
The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania.  It usually takes about 45mins to get to the Wineglass Bay Lookout. The 1.4 km walk is uphill on a rocky but well constructed path with stone steps. As a group, we walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where we help each other out to ensure we get the best photographs of this iconic view of Tasmania’s jewel.  We enjoy the excitement and emotions of the moment, learn the secrets of the beaches dark history and take in the rewarding and world famous view.
From the Wineglass Bay Lookout you will be given the option to return to the start of the walk with your guide, or to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass Bay Beach (2hr return). There you can enjoy a well deserved break with the famous white Wineglass Bay Beach sand between your toes, take a relaxing stroll along the beach, enjoy a swim in the stunning clear ocean, explore the rocky shoreline, the choice is yours!
If you choose to travel back with your guide, you will explore more of the Freycinet National Park through a series of short scenic walks.  You’ll visit Honeymoon Bay or Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lookout.

After almost 5 hours of fun and exploration in the Freycinet National Park we all reunite and jump aboard the bus again to make our way back to Hobart. The drive home is usually spent sharing our experiences and tales with each other and celebrating our amazing day out.  We’ll get you back at your accommodation around 6:30-7:00pm.

  • 5 star ratingThis was a really well thought out tour. Phil, our guide, kept us entertained throughout the whole day, and the stops were very well planned, spaced out, and explained clearly. I loved that people with different interests and skill levels were able to branch out separately. It’s a long day (about 11 hours), but you get to see plenty and learn a lot.

5 star ratingWhat a wonderful trip. Phil was excellent. He was so knowledgeable about Hobart. Filled our long drive with all kinds of history. Wineglass Bay was beautiful. Very crowded because of the Christmas holiday. Would highly recommend this tour.

  • 5 star ratingExcellent tour a long day but well worth it. Was the only one on the tour to walk down to Wineglass Bay on the beach but well worth it.

4 star ratingThe pick up from the hotel went well, the trip out to see the country side was long and my 70 year old wife and myself had to sit at the back over the wheel arch , while the younger one had nice seats

The tour guide was very good and was very knowledgeadle, it was a cloudy day but it did not rain. All in all it was a good day
